Secondary students needed for advisory committee

CCSD students are invited to apply for the 2010/2011 Student Advisory Committee to the Board of School Trustees. Any secondary student may apply. The committee allows students to share their opinions with the School Board and other CCSD officials. The deadline for applications is April 30.

Citi Foundation presents $30K grant to Clark HS

Clark High School received a $30,000 grant from Citi Foundation dedicated to the Academy of Finance (AOF) students for the AOF College Bound Initiative. The Academy of Finance at Clark HS is the only college prep program of its kind in Nevada’s public school system.

Cim.-Mem. HS to hold middle school parent night

Bracken ES to get makeover on Saturday

Bracken Elem. School will have a "Disney Give a Day Get a Day" event Saturday from 9-1. More than 250 volunteers will be on hand to paint murals, do landscaping, build cabinets and clean the campus. The Las Vegas Rotary Club is among the groups providing volunteers for Saturday's event.

Spread the Word Nevada receives $25K grant

The NV Energy Foundation Committee awarded a $25,000 grant to Spread the Word Nevada, a nonprofit children’s literacy organization. The grant will help the local group provide books and literacy services to disadvantaged youth in southern Nevada.

Knudson MS teacher to perform at special concert

Knudson MS orchestra teacher Lindsey Springer has been selected to perform in the 66-piece orchestra for the Michel Legrand 50th Anniversary Concert to be presented Saturday, March 27, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This performance will also be aired as a PBS special at a later date.
